Project Description
Once again working closely with James John Elementary, which is located across the street from our office, the goal of this project was to develop the existing little free library into a bona fide reading area for students and community members. The reading bench was designed to fit within budget and volunteer labor constraints, as well as meeting all of the requirements of Portland Public Schools. The construction labor was provided by a small group of volunteers. The end result was the creation of a new wrap-around cedar bench with the existing little library updated and reinstalled as the focal point. Convergence Architecture provided design and construction labor, while Sundling and Associates, LLC provided construction tools and leadership. Time and services were donated to the PTA by both companies.
