Portland Building

Convergence worked on this progressive design-build reconstruction project, teaming with DLR Group and Howard S. Wright to deliver a modernized and refreshed Portland Building for the City of Portland. The project delivery method is integrated in a collaborative way to maximize the team’s expertise, creativity, and efficiency.

Built in 1981, the 360,000 SF Portland Building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is regarded internationally as an example of Post-Modernism. The $195M project involved major renovations, including seismic upgrades with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and functionality of the building as a workplace, in addition to reconstructing the building envelope and M/E/P systems. Convergence providing critical design support and led the development of the virtual reality tools. We supported the BIM execution plan, served on the REVIT team, and supported the development of project specifications. The virtual reality tools facilitated essential walkthroughs with the client and team, enabling quick, informed decision-making throughout the design process.

The Portland Building is Gold LEED O+M certified and Well-Building certified.
